The best way to get started in winter sports is to learn to ski in Grandvalira

If one of your goals this year is to learn how to ski, now is the perfect time to make it happen.

Learning to ski in Grandvalira is one of the best decisions you can make, whether you're an adult or want to introduce your children to the sport. The resort offers a range of ski and snowboard courses to suit your level.
Whether it's your first time on skis or you're simply looking to perfect your technique, here you'll find everything you need to take your first steps in the snow.

The best place to learn to ski

Grandvalira offers one of the best infrastructures in the Pyrenees to learn to ski. From slopes specially designed for beginners to ski schools with professional instructors, everything is designed to help you progress safely and confidently. It has a total of 450 instructors in 6 Ski and Snowboard School centres, spread across all sectors.
Ski lessons in Grandvalira are adapted to all levels: from beginners to skiers who want to correct their technique or improve their style.

Ski lessons for all levels and ages

You can choose from different types of ski courses:

  • Group lessons

Ideal for learning to ski or snowboard in a group with other skiers of the same level, these lessons are for children aged 6 and above and are divided by age and level.

  • Private ski lessons

These are more intensive and personalised. In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, you can also learn freestyle and freeride in this modality. Classes are for a maximum of 6 people.

  • Top Class

If you are looking for a more personalised learning experience, Grandvalira's Top Class is the most exclusive option. This high-level service combines a personalised methodology, highly qualified instructors and a series of exclusive benefits that make all the difference, such as access to private changing rooms, a lounge area, the chance to try out different brands of skis, and the option of video recordings and photos for video correction.

How do you know your skiing level?

Before signing up for a course or choosing a class, it is important to know your skiing level to get the most out of it:

  • Beginner

Either you have never been on skis before or you have done so very few times and still do not feel confident. You need to learn from scratch: how to put on your equipment, slide, brake, turn with control or even use a chairlift for the first time. You still don't feel completely stable on the snow and you prefer not to leave flat areas or green slopes. If this is the case, you will benefit greatly from specific classes for beginners, designed to help you gain confidence from day one.

  • Intermediate

If you are already fairly comfortable on green and blue slopes and you can stop and turn without difficulty, you are probably at an intermediate level. You no longer need constant help and enjoy skiing downhill with ease, although there are still technical aspects to improve. At this stage, the aim is to refine your technique so that you can tackle more demanding slopes, such as red ones. It is also a stage at which many skiers begin to take an interest in new disciplines, such as freeriding or freestyle, in search of different sensations and a little more excitement on the snow.

  • Advanced

If you ski confidently on all types of slopes, including black ones, make precise turns and adapt easily to different types of snow and ground, you are at the advanced level. At this point, you are looking to perfect your technique, improve on the details and continue to progress, whether out of pure passion for the sport or with more technical or competitive goals in mind.

Learning to ski in Grandvalira for children

If you are travelling with your family, there are programmes specially designed for the little ones. Between the ages of 3 and 4, they can already get started in the world of skiing.
The resort offers lessons, programmes and nurseries for the youngest children.

  • Nursery: from 1 to 3 years old.

Here, the little ones stay in indoor spaces adapted to their age with educational games.

  • Snow garden: ages 3 to 6.

At this age, children will be introduced to the world of skiing in an easy and safe way while continuing to play. There is also the possibility of introducing them to snowboarding.

  • Kids Programme for ages 3 to 11.

This is ideal for immersion in the snow. Over the course of 5 days, they will learn or perfect their technique with lessons combined with lunch on the slopes and other activities in the snow.

This winter, take the plunge and learn to ski in Grandvalira!
